While commonly frequented by people who live or have some other interest in Wellington, New Zealand, it is open to anyone who wants to participate. It should be noted that #wellington does not represent the city of Wellington, nor the people of New Zealand, nor any other group except for itself. Operators are responsible for maintaining the tone of #wellington and ensuring that the rude and the boorish are excluded. However, #wellington does not wish to fall into the trap of being so nice as to be boring. Vigorous debate is encouraged but wilfully offensive behaviour can be expected to meet with public ridicule before eventual expulsion. #wellington is not a dating service, person finder, tourist advisor, immigration consultant, weather service, psycho-therapist, shopping guide, or TV listing service.
